The Setting
The Salon duMort: Established 1947 by Mortimer duMort and his wife Morticia as the “salon to the stars.” Even today, anybody who is anybody begs to get on the waiting list for an appointment here. The business made the duMorts rich, a wealth inherited by their twin sons, Larry and Jerry

Larry duMort is president of the Straight Scissors Society. Along with most of the skill and finesse, he inherited controlling interest in the salon after his parents passed on. Always the over-achiever, he passed his boards while whistling “The Barber of Seville.”

Percy Q. Tedman loves show tunes and would die for a chance to see a concert duet with Barbra Streisand and Bette Midler. A popular confidant to his female friends, he’s a talented hairstylist with a wealthy client-base. Still, he has often considered going into interior decorating. Enjoys line-dancing with Liza Manelli in his spare time.

Dominique Whiplash enjoys kickboxing in her leisure hours. She’s still trying to clear up tax-evasion charges. Larry demoted her from masseuse to doing manicure/pedicure after she sent too many clients to intensive care. Sells life insurance to make ends meet. Among her policy-holders: Rupert Murdoch.

Bambi McHooter is a former cheerleader. She flunked her entrance exam to beauty school so she became an exotic dancer. Once, while still underage, she bugalooed on Rob Lowe’s lap. In her spare time she collects shoes.

Jerry duMort is Larry’s identical twin brother. He didn’t inherit his father’s talent or charm, but got a minority share in the salon business anyway. He is certain that his own mother tried to kill him at the age of three, when she gave him his new bath toy: an electric blow dryer. She used to take pictures of Larry, get double prints, and pass the duplicates off as Jerry. A whining conniver, he is afraid of his own shadow.
