Elliot Brick's "The Case of the Maltese Ferret"

The world's dumbest private detective thinks he is on an ordinary domestic stakeout, but when Elliot Brick is hired by suspicious widow Mrs. Whitebread to tail her husband-to-be, Mr. Greenjeans, Brick stumbles into the stately but creepy mansion of the ancient Mrs. Peacock-a-Doodle-Doo, where a strange assortment of guests have arrived, including her scheming niece Miss Scarletta, eccentric mercenary Colonel Dijon, and a peculiar scientist named Professor Plumb-loco.

Before the night is through, someone is murdered with six possible weapons, nine possible locations and six suspects. Plus, Brick's arch-nemesis, Lieutenant Cleftjaw is dogging him. And what does any of this have to do with a ferret?

Elliot Brick's "The Case of the Maltese Ferret" or "Clueless in Seattle" by Bert Furioli and Butch Maxwell
